Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a Creative Specialist with a focus on Video Editing to join the Creative team at Yipiyap. The right person will be responsible for editing short-form videos for our Peerscroller application– an educational platform for young people to access reliable video content on essential life topics.
No two videos are the same on Peerscroller, and therefore every edit is different. The ideal candidate would be one who sees that as an exciting challenge and loves working creativity in a fast-paced environment.
The content of our videos can be fun or serious, depending on the topic, but fundamentally educational in nature – getting the tone and presentation right is essential!
We are currently seeking one person for this role.

Your Responsibilities
- Reviewing raw footage to determine whether it is usable.
- Analysing video scripts to plan the edit. This might include graphics, text titles, stock footage, and sound.
- Cutting down talking head footage to a workable rough-cut.
- Creating and animating on-screen graphics, text pop-ups and other visual elements – while maintaining our distinctive ‘Peerscroller feel’.
- Sourcing appropriate stock footage, music, and sound effects.
- Generating and proofreading subtitles.
- Creating thumbnails with an Affinity Designer template.
- Actioning feedback from reviewers to continuously raise the quality of the videos
- Collaborating with editors, writers, and other members of the team to maintain consistency across the content, improve shared workflows, and create the best content possible!
Your Skills & Qualities
- Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve is essential. An understanding of the Fusion page, experience with the SnapCaptions 2 plugin, and a basic understanding of Affinity Designer are all a bonus.
- Experience editing short-form video
- A good instinct for pacing and visual storytelling – being able to blend the writer’s creative vision and your own to create an exciting final video.
- Comfortable creating and working with on-screen text, animated graphics, and basic motion work.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work to tight turnarounds – this is a fast-paced role and keeping on top of your workload is an important part of the job.
- A drive to always improve – an ability to receive feedback well and implement in future work.
- Ability to work independently to complete an edit, but also an ability to collaborate successfully on creative ideas with other members of the team.
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve– both tech issues and creative problems.
