Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a Creative Specialist with a focus on Script Writing to join the Creative team at Yipiyap. The right person will be responsible for writing scripts for short-form videos for our Peerscroller application– an educational platform for young people to access reliable video content on essential life topics.

Each script is an opportunity to be creative and employ different aspects of storytelling! The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys coming up with creative ideas and is confident in writing about different topics and in a fast-paced environment.

The content should always be engaging and educational– getting the balance right in a way that speaks to young people is key!

We are currently seeking one person for this role.

Title: Creative Specialist (Script Writing)

Salary: Competitive

Hours: Full time

Contract: Permanent

Location: Altrincham, Greater Manchester

Closing Date: June 2026 (unless already filled)

Your Responsibilities

  • Bringing colleagues’ topic prompts and requests to life as script ideas
  • Working with external contacts and interpreting their project ideas
  • Executing a creative vision in a confidently-written and effective script
  • Editing and refining drafts
  • Identifying stock footage and images from our library to support your scripts
  • Writing engaging titles and descriptions for videos
  • Identifying the complexity of edits required to execute your script
  • Identifying sensitive content in your script
  • Collaborating with presenters and editors to bring your script to life
  • Managing time effectively and executing scripts to deadlines
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of young people and youth culture

Your Skills & Qualities

  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to adapt to the Peerscroller voice
  • Writing experience, either through study, work, or passion.
  • Ability to confidently communicate and collaborate with external partners and colleagues
  • Ability to navigate the vision of others and develop their ideas
  • Interest in film, literature, TV or media; a sense of reference and influences
  • A good instinct for pacing and storytelling
  • Ability to take on feedback and work independently.
  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
  • A drive to always improve your skills
