Peerscroller v2.0 launches September 2025!
When we first imagined Peerscroller, it was a way to give young people the knowledge and confidence to face life’s challenges - and to make things simpler for the staff guiding them.
A year on, and we’re launching Version 2.0, we’ve built on everything you already know and love, adding the features you’ve asked for: smarter ways to collaborate, easier access for your whole team, and the exciting opportunity to support a brand new set of learners. It’s still Peerscroller - just better. Read on to explore what’s new!
We’ll be rolling out the new features for Peerscroller Version 2.0 over the next few weeks, ready for the new school year in September.
If you’re already using Peerscroller, you don’t need to do anything - you’ll see all the new features on the app and the Teacher Portal soon.
What’s new in Peerscroller Version 2.0?
Peerscroller for Primary schools
It’s official – in September 2025, Peerscroller is launching in Primary schools.
We’re launching a bespoke catalogue of content developed specifically for Key Stage 2 learners, as this is where schools are telling us the demand is greatest.
Key Stage 2 is a vital window in which socio-emotional learning is particularly impactful. Learners of this age aren’t significantly less likely to require emotional or wellbeing support, and it’s a vital time to deliver digital literacy education too.
Besides all that, we’re excited to get Peerscroller in front of more learners full stop. Peerscroller will be reaching its first Primary schools this September, and we can’t wait to see the impact it makes and hear your feedback.
What’s included?
We’ve created an age-appropriate selection of videos addressing the PSHE Association’s Programme of Study, covering themes like:
Your Family
Your Mind
Keeping Safe
Growing up
Your Body
Teachers can use Peerscroller’s Primary content in lessons, while parents can download the app to use Peerscroller at home with their children.
Optionally, schools can also offer the Peerscroller app to pupils themselves, if they own a mobile device.
If you’d like to introduce Peerscroller to your Primary setting, get in touch with us to find out more.
New features to help staff collaborate
We know the best outcomes happen when teachers can collaborate easily and confidently. After listening to your feedback, we set out to make Peerscroller even more supportive of teamwork in busy school environments. That’s why we’ve introduced a suite of new collaboration tools designed to make sharing, organising, and managing content simpler than ever.
Whether you’re coordinating across classes, refining resources with colleagues, or keeping track of what’s been shared, these updates put flexibility and control right at your fingertips. From new admin roles and shareable collections to smarter privacy settings and better insights, here’s a look at what’s new - and how it can help you support your learners together.
New Administrator role on the Teacher Portal
Previously, there were two account types on the Teacher Portal:
The Super Administrator, who oversees the whole organisation and is usually a member of the IT or data team, and
Teachers, who can access videos to play in class, create Classes and Collections, and share videos with learners via the app.
But once Peerscroller Version 1.0 reached schools, we discovered that another kind of account was needed: someone who can manage a team of Teachers, without needing to involve to get your organisation’s Super Admin involved in day-to-day business.
That new role is the Administrator, and it’s perfect for heads of department, subject leads, PSHE or safeguarding leads, and so on.
The Administrator can:
Add other teachers to the platform
Promote other teachers to Admin status
View basic information about other teachers in their school
Do everything a normal Teacher account can do
But can’t:
Access some sensitive personal data (only available to the Super Admin)
Perform platform-wide data management.
These new roles should help your senior team to roll out and manage Peerscroller in the day-to-day, as well as making it easier to comply with your organisation’s information access policy.
Classes are now shareable between teachers
Why reinvent the wheel if someone’s already done the work?
Classes can now be shared from Teacher to Teacher within your organisation.
This could be really helpful if somebody’s already collected together members of a class or form group – or for handing over your class to another teacher at the end of the year.
Created collections are now discoverable and sharable between teachers
Collections created by Teachers can now be discovered by and shared with other Teachers in your organisation.
That means you can share your best collections with your colleagues (and become the most popular teacher in the staff room!)
Collection privacy options
With the new collection sharing options, we’ve also added the option to set a privacy level for your Collections. The privacy levels are:
Default: These Collections can be discovered on the Teacher Portal by other Teachers in your organisation. They’re visible to Learners only if you share them with that Learner directly or with a Class they’re a member of.
This option is the default setting for new or previously-existing collections.Share-only: These Collections won’t be visible to other Teachers or Learners until they’re shared.
When shared with a Learner, other Teachers won’t be able to see it unless you’ve also shared the Collection with them. That makes Share-Only Collections a good option for supporting Learners with sensitive issues.Personal: These Collections can only be viewed by you and can’t be shared or discovered by Teachers or Learners.
These new options should make it easier for staff to collaborate, while still protecting Learners’ privacy when it’s needed.
For safeguarding purposes, every Collection you make or share will always be visible to your organisation’s Super Administrator and the Peerscroller team, regardless of its Privacy setting.
Quality-of-life improvements to the Class and Collection interfaces
With all the new sharing you’re going to be doing, we’ve made a handful of quality-of-life improvements to the user interfaces when creating, managing, and sharing Classes and Collections.
When viewing all your Collections, you can now:
Toggle between viewing Collections you’ve created or Collections that have been shared with you.
On a Collection page, you can now:
Select multiple Teachers, Classes, or Learners to send that Collection to at once.
Select videos to remove from the Collection.
Edit the Collection’s name and privacy setting.
On a Class page, you can now:
Share that Class with other Teachers in your organisation.
Select multiple Collections to send to that Class at once.
Edit the name of the Class.
Remove Collections which have previously been shared with the Class.
On a Learner’s page, you can now:
Select multiple Collections to send to that Learner at once.
More useful stats on the dashboard
We’ve made a lot of changes to the statistics on the Teacher Portal dashboard.
All Teachers will be able to view information on how Learners are using the Peerscroller app, as they can now, including:
Number of accounts
User activity
Most-viewed categories
Most popular videos
Trending tags
And Admins and Super Admins will be able to view Teacher usage stats as well, including:
Recently-active staff
Most-shared videos
Recently active Classes
Recently-shared Collections
Both of these pages will also be filterable to a chosen date range and (for the Learner stats) by Year Group.
We’re also adding new sorting options for each statistic – so, for example, you’ll now be organise the most popular videos with Learners by Views, Likes, or Saves.
Other improvements
Alongside the big updates you’ve already seen, we’ve been hard at work adding a whole range of smaller improvements designed to make using Peerscroller smoother and more enjoyable every day.
These enhancements focus on the details that matter - whether that’s clearer ways to browse and discover content, more accessible playback options, or extra security for shared devices.
We’ve also introduced features to help learners stay engaged and informed without overwhelming them. From faster video loading to helpful notifications and thoughtful quality-of-life tweaks, here’s a round-up of everything else that’s new and improved in Peerscroller.
New features in the app
We’ve implemented a number of new features to help learners make the most of the Peerscroller app, including:
A notification badge on the home feed when a teacher shares content.
Push notifications when content is shared (although we know that no-one likes to be spammed, so we’ve limited how many of these go through each day, regardless of how many Collections you share.)
An automatic logout function for shared devices (e.g. accessing Peerscroller through school iPads in the classroom or library)
New options for watching videos including a progress scrubber, fast-forward and rewind, and speeding or slowing the rate of playback.
New playback features on the Teacher Portal
We’ve also added those same playback options to the Teacher Portal, so you can now:
Scrub forward and backwards through videos
See how long is left on the progress bar
Fast-forward or rewind
…along with some other features to improve accessibility in the classroom:
Play the video at a faster or slower rate (which could be helpful for learners with slower processing)
Play videos with subtitles while on the Teacher Portal
Play videos in fullscreen mode
Improvements to browsing videos on the Teacher Portal
Besides that, we’ve also made it easier to find the kind of videos you’re looking for on the Teacher Portal, including:
Key Stage badges beneath each video
A Key Stage filter on the Browse menu
New video descriptions just for teachers, with info on which learning objectives each video fulfill
Behind-the-scenes improvements to the search functionality and video tagging (although we’re still working to make these even better)
Improvements to security and performance
Besides that, we’ve also made a number of changes behind the scenes to improve app security and performance (for example, how quickly videos load).
These kinds of improvement aren’t flashy, but they’re important work!
