How are Fairfax Academy using Peerscroller?

Fairfax Academy has successfully embedded Peerscroller across their school by putting their PSHE, Equality and Culture Champions at the centre of the rollout. We heard from Nicole Hau, the Assistant Head, who dives into how this approach helped Peerscroller become a natural part of school life.

Tips from Fairfax Academy for Embedding Peerscroller

Assign champions to lead the rollout

"Our Champions are essential. As a large school, successful implementation relies on shared ownership rather than top-down rollout."

Champions were selected from PSHE, Equality, and Culture teams to act as advocates and role models. They became the go-to staff for Peerscroller, helping colleagues understand how to use it effectively. Identify staff who are confident and enthusiastic to lead the rollout, such as heads of PSHE or other experienced teachers.

Model for other colleagues

“Because they already had strong relationships with students and a clear understanding of our PSHE and Equity priorities, they are able to embed Peerscroller naturally into PSHE tutor time, lessons and subject specialisms."

Champions modelled Peerscroller in tutor time, lessons, and subject-specific contexts, helping other staff see it in action.

Support staff and reduce pressure

"Staff are inspired by how accessible and purposeful Peerscroller is. It provides a clear structure for discussion, particularly around complex or sensitive topics, and removes some of the pressure staff can feel when facilitating open conversations."

Champions guided colleagues on how to utilise Peerscroller, making it easier to facilitate discussions around complex or sensitive topics.

Use Peerscroller to spark student conversations

"We’re aiming to facilitate conversations around lived experiences, representation and school culture, as well as gathering student perspectives to inform the way we do things, assemblies and initiatives."."

Fairfax have used Peerscroller to learners engage in discussions about lived experiences, representation, and school culture.
